In the latest study investigating the potential of probiotic supplementation to reduce the prevelance of allergic disease 112 pregnant women with a family history of allergic diseases received either a mixture of Bifidobacterium bifidum, B. lactis, and Lactobacillus acidophilus, or placebo, starting at 4-8 wks before delivery and continuing until 6 months after delivery.
